IT'S A BOY!

That's right, the first child born to Dave and Sheryl Babcock will be a boy. We are more than excited about our pending delivery, due March 17th. Having known about out little guy since October 31st, and NOT telling anyone, I finally pleaded with Dave to let me tell him about our wonderful surprise. Dave reluctantly consented. He wanted to wait until D-day (delivery day) for the ultimate surprise and maximum excitement, but he was willing to sacrifice his fun for mine. (thanks Dave!)

So, on New Year's Eve/Day at the stroke of midnight, I gave Dave a puzzle that he had to put together (there were probably 25 pieces or so) and that's how he found out. The thing is-on christmas-I had actually slipped with a pronoune (he) twice, but Dave didn't catch it or realize I had done that. (From the moment I found out I was pregnant I was always referring to the baby as he for some reason. When I found out that the baby was in fact a he, I always referred to the baby as "the baby" though.)So, anyway, I was worried that I was losing my ability to keep tight lipped and wanted to be able to tell Dave in a "fun" way instead of an oh shoot! I slipped way. Dave proceeded to do the boy dance with accompanying whooping and hollering. It was so much fun to have him share in my excitement.

Dave had been thinking it was a girl so he's been coming up with lots of girls' names, and so now he has to switch gears into helping me think of boys' names. Girls names are so much easier to come up with by the way. You don't have to worry about a girls name being too girly or femenine or geeky. With boys' names, it's hard! Any reccomendations are appreciated. We won't actually decide for certain on a name though until we meet our little boy. March 17th is just around the corner, and the weekly count down is entering single digits....YAY!

Yay for little boy Babcock. Boys names are really hard. Any names are hard when two people have such different tastes (like me and Chris). I hope all the baby/no sleep/venting posts and comments by me and Susie aren't scaring you too much! Well, it's good to hear stuff like that because it is quite shocking how much work a newborn is and you want to hear as much as you can about it before you have one. Poor Susie says she wasn't warned enough and then made sure she warned me a lot and I greatly appreciated it. Nothing can totally prepare you for it, but your friends can at least warn you! You'll be a great mom. I can't believe how close you are- enjoy these last few weeks - you won't be able to give the baby back, no matter how much you may want to sometimes. :)

I knew it was gonna be a boy! Remember when I was talking to you on the phone and i was like "you're having a boy, right?" forgetting that you hadn't told me yet. I just felt like you had. haha. So exciting!!! As Aaron and I talk about baby names, for the future, we always come up with great boy names and struggle with girl names, so I'm surprised you guys are having trouble. What ideas do you have so far?
By the way, I seriously want to see some pregnant pictures! You have to really post a lot between now and then, and then of course after he is born to make up for the lack of pictures thus far.

Yay for making it public! I am so excited for you two! I agree with Emily...we have been long overdue on these pictures. I am getting concerned that once he comes, you won't post much either. We must change that since most of us our thousands of miles apart! You encouraged me once not to hold out...now post some tummy! Love you guys, and am truly so excited for your new adventure. Can't believe it is so close!

About all this picture talk-I think you are all crazy! I was looking on the computer the last time I posted for some sort of pregnancy picture to edit or something, but I could only find only two pictures-one is from Dave's cell phone that he took when we were looking at furniture, and the other is when I'm only 14 weeks and I'm having my first ultrasound-not a very exciting picture for those who wanting the black mail kind.
However, Dave and I have talked about doing some "nice" pregnancy pictures-belly pictures and such so that I have some sort of nice picture to document this occasion in case it never happens again. However, I probably won't get to posting them for a few weeks because our computer sucks (it's on the fritz) and I don't want to risk downloading/uploading any pictures on to it. But when I do-you won't be dissappointed. Stay tuned for pictures coming soon....

Congratulations! I know I guess it because I guessed you were having both, so then I could say I was right. We didn't even need Jack after all, which is good since he's actually in prison (not really for a DUI, he's undercover doing some counterterrorist work under his alibi Kiefer Sutherland). I totally agree about boy names being so difficult. Every day I think up a new girl name I like, but I'm thinking I'm going to have a few more boys first. I would tell you some of the ones I like but they are so few (three) that I want to be baby-name-selfish and hope no one else discovers them, even though some are already on the rise and I had to discard them. Like Asher and Caleb! I love those names but I know too many friends naming them that that I can't name my own. Good luck! Definitely show us some tummy!
